2014 Bombeck Workshop faculty: Tracy Beckerman

Tracy Beckerman began writing after moving with her family from New York City to the New Jersey suburbs as a way to find herself and share a few laughs about the endless sea of “mom bob” haircuts, minivans and coordinated tennis outfits. What started out as a single column for a New Jersey newspaper, “Lost in Suburbia,” is now nationally syndicated to more than 400 newspapers and 250 websites, reaching nearly 10 million readers in 25 states. It won her the title of “America’s Top Blogger” in 2010 by Lifetime Television’s hit TV show, The Balancing Act, where she is now an executive blogger. Ms. Beckerman has written two books and has contributed to three anthologies. In her latest book, Lost in Suburbia: A Momoir How I Got Pregnant, Lost Myself and Got My Cool Back in the New Jersey Suburbs, she divulges her funny and heartwarming missteps in parenting and daily life. She also has appeared on numerous television programs, including The Today Show and CBS Early Show, and contributes to such online mom/parenting sites as Huffington Post Parents, Working Mother and Blogher. Ms. Beckerman credits the Erma Bombeck Writers’ Workshop with helping her discover her passion for writing.
